The senior’s Ontario Drug Benefit deductible and prescription co-payment

The Seniors Co-Payment Program (SCP) in Ontario offers financial assistance to low-income seniors by waiving the annual deductible and reducing prescription co-payment fees to $2 per prescription. To qualify, applicants must be 65 years or older with a valid Ontario Health card and meet the following income criteria:

  • Single seniors: Annual net income of $25,000 or less.
  • Senior couples: Combined annual net income of $41,500 or less.

Eligible participants gain access to approximately 5,000 prescription drugs covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit program. To apply, complete the online application available on the Ontario Drug Benefit Program Online Applications and Forms website. For those without internet access, paper copies can be requested by calling 416-503-4586 (Toronto area) or toll-free at 1-888-405-0405, or by emailing [email protected].
