The Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) is a government-funded initiative offering free routine dental services to low-income seniors aged 65 and older in Ontario. Eligible services include check-ups (scaling, fluoride treatments, and polishing), repairs for broken teeth and cavities, x-rays, extractions or removal of abnormal tissue (oral surgery), anesthesia, treatments for infections and pain (endodontic services), and care for gum conditions and diseases (periodontal services). Additionally, dental prosthetics like dentures are partially covered; for more details, seniors should consult their local public health unit.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age 65 or older
- Resident of Ontario
- Annual net income of $25,000 or less for single seniors, or a combined annual net income of $41,500 or less for couples
- No existing dental benefits, apart from the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), including private insurance or coverage under other government programs such as Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, or Non-Insured Health Benefits
Applicants’ income will be verified using their Social Insurance Number (SIN) through their tax returns. For those without a SIN or who haven’t filed taxes in the previous year, an application through a guarantor is required.
Application Process:
Seniors can apply online or by mail. Each individual must submit a separate application, even if applying as a couple. Required information includes date of birth, a valid Ontario address, and SIN or Temporary Taxation Number (TTN).

Once enrolled, coverage lasts up to one year, ending on July 31st annually, regardless of the enrollment date. Participants will receive renewal information each year.
